Before Arriving at Hospital
It is important that you complete the pre-admission form and make sure it is at the hospital at least three days before your admission. We have provided an on-line pre-admission form for you to complete to make the admission process quicker and easier.
Valuables
We strongly recommend that personal valuables not be kept in patient's rooms. Nursing staff will gladly place valuables in safe-keeping. We cannot take responsibility for lost or stolen items.
Telephones
To obtain an outside line, for local, STD or ISD calls please dial O then the required number. All calls are charged at the standard Telstra rate. A red "message" light on your telephone indicates a message has been left for you. You can receive messages by pressing the "Message" button. To cancel the message press the button once again. ABC FM is available by dialing 79 without lifting the handset. Dial 79 to cancel.
Library
The library is located in the first floor lounge. You are welcome to browse and borrow.
Plaques
Plaques are affixed around the Hospital as acknowledgements to our generous benefactors who enabled us to rebuild the Hospital and provide some of our facilities.
Television
All rooms have TV sets provided. As well as all free-ot-air television stations, patient televisions also provide local radio programs including ABC FM, Triple M FM, and 2UE. Video programs are also available, please refer to program guide provided in rooms for current schedules.
Games
We have a selection of games available for loan the office including Chess, Cards, Backgammon, Trivial Pursuit, Scrabble and much more.
Recorded books and music
A selection of recorded books and music are available on tape. Please ask the nursing staff for further details.
Newspapers
Daily newspapers and magazines are sold at Reception. Complimentary copies of the Australian Jewish News are available on Thursday.
Visitors
For security reasons all visitors must leave the Hospital by 8.00pm each evening. All exit doors will be locked promptly at 8.10PM. Your co-operation would be appreciated.
Smoking
The Hospital is a smoke-free zone. Smoking is not permitted within the Hospital building.
Refreshments
Hot drinks for visitors are available from the Café Bar located in the First Floor Lounge. Cold drinks are available from the vending machine on the Ground Floor Terrace. Sweets and snacks are available at Reception. Meals for visitors can be ordered at Reception.
Kosher Food
All food is prepared in accordance with Jewish dietary requirements and is strictly Kosher. Kosher food is distinguished by the separation of milk products from meat products. As such, it is requested that no food apart from fresh fruit be brought into the Hospital.
Complaints
If any aspect of our stay at Wolper is not satisfactory please advise either the Ground Floor or First Floor Sisters. We at Wolper take pride in providing excellence in health care and want to ensure that you have a comfortable stay. If you have any other query or difficulty please make this known to our Nursing Unit Manager. Unresolved complaints can be directed to the NSW Department of Health, Complaints Unit. Going Home
Discharge forms are to be completed, with your assistance, by the nursing staff. Your medication and other medical details will be confirmed, as will your upcoming doctor appointments.
Please ring Reception on extension 6 to inform office staff of your likely discharge time.
All patients are assessed on their need for post-hospital care. Patients with special needs will be consulted by the Discharge Co-ordinator who will help organise care outside the Hospital environment.
